Ghopper's House looks like a mint condition functioning museum piece-beautiful stuff.

And unlike some of us (namely me) he doesn't keep the extras. They get de-accessioned.

    Yeah, that guy!

    Awwww....you remembered! Y'all made my day :)

Yes, the collecting continues. And so does the selling. I suppose that the bright side of the brown furniture/antiques in general depression is that I've stopped expecting to make money on the stuff we sell. That takes some of the anxiety out of the whole thing. In other words, buy what you can to create that environment of love (good one, Komo) and make the cost up with enjoyment over a period of years, then move on.

    Am I rationalizing? Probably.

    Love ya!!

Ghopper-You & Komo are dead on with the philosophy of making money off Collectibles & Antiques-the payment's in having a beautiful, richer life.
I've collected for 50 yrs & while I don't know the worth of every rhinestone & pot-stuff I regularly got for .35 to $20 aint' in my neighborhood anymore.
You wanted a Harvard Student Lamp for years,well-in a thousand years might turn-up at the landfill, but You'll be able to relish it longer by paying market value for it now.
PS-I'm sure some folks here make a full-time living antiquing. Here in Portland that's 40K min a yr if your house is paid off.If You've got rent/mortgage-sky's the limit.

...and that's why most dealers are retired old farts with a 401-k, Social Security and Medicare. In the USA anyway.

-yep Evely, our economic system doesn't encourage younger folks to become dealers.I always enjoy seeing folks under 40 joining the forum.
The kids i see clogging the thrifts are grabbing 1990's 'vintage' -hockey jerseys, puffy coats, baseball caps.
If you listed 50 pieces a week on Poshmark, maybe you could make a living ?
PS-I watch the 'Look what I found at GW today' shows on YouTube & wish I could sell trash for that kind of $.

Beats having it end in the landfill/tip. The folks between 40 and 65 tend to have disabilities like mine that limit career choices, especially jewelry dealers.
