It's the original vase that is ancient; the art work based on it is not.

Rick, please confirm if you item is labeled with the name amyr?

In the future, upload your images as full-size (not thumbnails) so they all load at the end of your post - no captions necessary.

Then add images as responses to current discussion as needed... does that make sense? Any questions, just ask

I know it's tough to do on a phone... Try using the tools at the top of where you post.

Long-press on an image you want to bring into your post, select "copy link" or "location" (url)

To import or insert, use the little icon to the right of the happy face (looks like mountains) - long press and the clipboard should come up with your url.

    Here's the image from worthpoint

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

From the worthpoint find by Scout....

You are bidding on this Ancient Jewish Vase decorated with grapes the MENORAH and the inscription ISRAEL in ancient Hebrew characters. Designed and made by: ARYE AMYR, Ramat-Hasharon, Israel.
This piece is signed by the artist in black permanent ink. Item purchased at STUDIO AMYR in ISRAEL. Very well known artist and quite valuable piece. Brought back from Israel and a true bargain today.

    Should say......Ancient STYLE Jewish Vase.....

According to the pictures I have it says AMYR on the brass tag ( looking at other pieces that tag is probably supposed to be on the inside as well )
Let me see what I can do with the picture, but you give me way too much credit ( I'm more of a mechanical engineer then an electrical engineer)

Think it is even more accurately a sculpture based on an ancient Jewish vase.

Rick, don't sweat it... Just for future reference. No need to upload any other images.

i just want to confirm that your piece is NOT labeled with plaques and whatnot, which would clearly indicate it had something to do with a contemporary studio.

I think we all agree that something that an object that came from a contemporary artist's studio is not ancient.

Religious keepsakes and souvenirs have been offered to tourists and devotees around the world for a long, long time, so it could easily be "older," whatever that means

But can we also agree it's a version of a tear vessel? It's probably the most interesting, poignant thing about it.

I'm happy I worked that out, if accurate.

There's no question here about the age of Rick's piece. It may qualify as vintage, it's not an antique & most certainly not an antiquity. At post #17 I gave a link that gives a clue to when Amyr/Amir might have been active.

The description of the set of 6 says:

six cast bronze reliefs, with signature and edition placards, all from numbered editions of 300, ... Provenance: Studio Amyr, Israel Art Center.

Arye himself has surely passed on by now; don't know if Studio Amyr is still a going concern & putting out more castings of his work.

Rick, is your vase in the round/3-D, or a relief with a flat back? I'm seeing it as the former, put into a shadow box, not sure.

Ok, I think the big problem with the pictures is there are to large to upload (got the message)
Can't get a url thingy from my phones gallery of pictures.

    That about covers it.

More of a flat back with a modern roll type pin sticking out.
I'll add a picture to the gallery.

Again, I think we all agree it's not ancient or antique.

I admit, I was confused about which images are coming from where. So see now it is from amyrs studio.

It is tear bottle/vase, is it not? I think that's a good call on what it is. And will help to sell it, if that's what Rick wants to do with it.

This might help, I dumped pictures so just the item is left.
Vintage might be correct but not old enough for antique (surely not ancient)
AMYR's interpretation of a tear bottle/vase done in bronze.

You will have to show me because I don't know what this means. We're not talking about a brooch, are we?

You can grab images from the internet using the steps I gave.

Off your phone is a whole 'nother thing.

Your photos look fine, but if you're struggling to upload, check the resolution setting on your phone and experiment with reducing it.

Detailed photos are always so much more accurate than writing.

Absolutely. I think it is a pretty souvenir of Israel, made by Studio Amyr.
Depends on the size of the original it is based on. I think the original was a big one, for wine or oil. Tear bottles are usually a different shape.

Agreed. Definitely not old, and I'd have said copy of an oil jug. Wine used to go in skins as often as not, although Roman and Greek exports would have traveled in jugs.
