I found this today at my local thrift store. I know it's old by the case, but also because of the paper label inside it that says
    Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis
    Faciebat Anno 1722
And on the bottom/edge of label it has - Germany - stamped in blue ink. (couldn't get it in photo) - so I'm thinking it's at least pre wwII?

Also the top part where keys to tighten strings is nicer than a reg cheap violin, right?
Or is it just a cheap chinese copy meant to fool (like it did me)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

German Strad copy, there were a huge amount of these made. The large crack on the front is a problem as it will affect the sound. It’s missing it’s bridge and maybe the sound post has been dislodged when it was damaged. It would take effort and know how to repair this, only a specialist could tell you if it’s worthwhile.
Have a good look at the bow for a makers mark, these can be quite valuable.

I have an Ernst Heinrich Roth 1943 Markneukirchen in perfect condition. Took it to a local famous violinist shop for appraisal. He must have misunderstood. He re-glued and put a missing bridge on it - £325 !!
