Thanks for the history. Quite interesting. Also this subject caused me to do some googling on Scottish mining. I was surprised to learn that Scotland had such an array of metals/minerals.
As far as the Scottish brooch goes I now feel that it might have been made after 1950 and just might be a repro. from India or China? They are reproducing antiques now that are almost better than the originals.

No way is that a repro. I see similar in the UK a great deal.

I have to admit to being surprised when mine wasn’t silver (early lesson that ‘all that glisters’ etc) No idea what the stone/glass is either so I can’t help there. Mega money on that site. Mine was a fraction of that price!
