It's mostly direct deposit, but we old people still enter it into the checkbook register.

Yes ours is direct deposit but I would never be able to keep track of anything if I did not write it down. I am one of those OCD folks that my accounts have to balance to the penny always. :p:rolleyes::eek::D

LOL...I did that too..until about 10 years ago. It was starting to drive me crazy when I was even a few cents off...and then I just said..."who gives a shi*" .:jawdrop: I made better use of the hour(s) it would take me to balance it all....;)

When we got married back in '73 he already had a checking account so we just turned it into a joint account. Since I had more time I took care of the bill-paying stuff because he was still finishing college & working at the nuclear plant plus he played in a wedding-type band.:rolleyes:

Three months later I informed him that we were opening a new checking account because I had no idea how much money we had in the account. The man could do complex calculus equations but he sucks at balancing a checkbook.:p:hilarious:

Almost 48 years later I still take care of all banking & I must admit since online banking started I have not actually balanced a checkbook. I take 5 minutes every morning to give it a quick glance that everything is good.

I check my bank account every day, being paranoid. Keep a spreadsheet which I download transactions to.

When I discovered online banking back in the early 2000s is when we changed from dial-up to high speed. :D:D
