A bit late to the party here but want to say that it was a great buy at $8.00.

It's also pictured in Huxford's Brush/McCoy Pottery, page 16......First one at the top.

    Corn Line.

Glad you got the accurate info, Bakersgma. Japan did copy a lot of American styles and motifs, I also have catalogue pages with some of those items. They undercut the American companies with their cheaper exports.
Great that someone found the exact piece, maker, and date. I learned something too. :)

Wanted to share an image of my reference source for a Japanese type of corn design pottery set. This is from a 1930s catalog page, in the 'Made In Japan Ceramics' book by Carol Bess White.

I have to run off to do some errands, but wanted to say thanks for the info, I have a pitcher and four cups in this corny pattern and love it. I've never known anything about it!

Sorry to pile on here, @Bakersgma...but I looovveee this corn stuff and without any marks, I've never known what it is, and with @toomanytocount's and @janetpjohn's expertise available I can't resist :bookworm:

I picked this up too many years ago to remember for next to nothing.

    Sorry for the dark photos...

Thank you and please pardon my butting in!

60's isn't all that "new." What were you thinking for age?

..ha! I'm feeling old ;-) the '60's seems like not that long ago! I've probably had them 25 years...they weren't that old when I got them..I guess I always felt like they were '40's for some reason.

    Purchased pre-internet and never reevaluated...

That seller is from Slovakia and says that their set is from Hungary, specifically Magyarszombatfa but it definitely isn't. They're white ceramic not red or brown clay as you would find in Hungary especially in Magyarszombatfa. That set is Japanese ceramic like in the catalog page toomanytocount posted.
I suspect your set is also Japanese.
The creamer Bakergma posted is early 20th century American by Brush McCoy.

Hmmm...so much corny pottery! So mine is Japanese? That seller sounded so authoritative, I didn't question her!

This is exactly the reason why having folks like Anundverkaufen here is so helpful!
