    hi
Recently brought a lot of small tools and this tool really caught my interest . it looks like it’s a sewing machine but how why and what it would be used for beats me.... has no name on it apart from patent

Leather-stitching? Or maybe just a portable sewing machine? Beats me.

I wonder if your tool could put a hem onto a drapery while it hung in place?

What is the patent number? It may be a tool for making "punch" hooked rugs:

Traditionally a "latch hook" was used (illustrated on the left). A lot of different versions of punch tools were made. The screw on the side may have held a needle in place.

no there is nothing imprinted there - it’s just metal - this is the only thing written on it -

I actually see print. Maybe scratched in. Click just one time on the second photo posted and look in this area that I circled above and see if it is me or there is actually something there. I still see it. Could be me I guess.

Definitely numbers there, printed on the two sides pictured. I just can't read them all.

Maybe 211NY4294. Thought at first the first two were LH. It is very hard to read. The first two are the hardest. I don't know but thanks for looking.

I wonder if this is some sort of manual quilting foot? This is a machine one.
Does that box-thing look like you could insert a needle in the bottom of it?

i thought it was some kind of sewing tool too but then realized there’s nothing “under” it like a bobbin that’s would make a stitch so the tufting sounds more likely - i tried a normal sewing machine needle in it but it didn’t fit.
i think half of the reason i buy strange mixed lots is for the discovering new things !
