The "button" with the pearl is a slide for a chain. The star was a bargain hunt in a junk lot on Ebay, can be worn as a pendant with the hook on back and happily has the "anti pin poke" clasp:happy:

Of course, you could be right. A diamond tester is needed. It is true, paste was very common.

    Wow, these are stunning!
The pin with the blue backing is so interesting.
I really love that you are showing the backs of the pieces. I love to see how the jewelry is constructed!

Look at all the little rose and single cuts! So beautiful!
It makes me sad, though, that they were probably pulled out of some fabulous piece of jewelry.
What are you going to do with them?

    They were listed as MOISSANITE:eek:
Seller even has old style cushion cut MOISSANITE:facepalm:
Impatent to have them in hand, under loupe to see those inclusions, and TEST them with the diamond tester:D

    Just received them!
Sparkling like crazy, yellow brown tint, lots of needle like inclusions, no bubbles...
Tested with my cheap electronic diamond tester as... diamonds:wideyed::eek:.
Not sure if moissanite DOES indeed test as diamond with these devices:bucktooth:... But, unless the Indian seller made a mistake and listed real flawed diamonds for moissanite, this is SCARY!
Till now, I relied on my eye and deductions from the cut to buy antique jewellery (details of the construction and setting is very important too:cyclops:)!:nailbiting:

The only old diamonds I have are in this ring which was my grandmothers engagement ring and the one OH used to propose to me.
I had it appraised about 20 years ago but I can’t remember the details and the certificate is in the loft!
So sparkly it difficult to even see the cut let alone photograph it but maybe you can see?
It’s 18ct white gold and I think they were married c1930?.

    A beautiful project stash, kyra.
I think you have the same tester as I have, the Diamond Selector II, which doesn't differentiate between moissanite and diamond. You need another tester for that, which specifies that it does differentiate between moissanite and diamond.
Indian sellers generally know what they are selling. Was it one of the Jaipur companies? Believe me, they know.;)
