I was nervously awaiting her approval, clammy hands and all.:nailbiting::joyful::kiss:
Same here, except for the shoe size. I also buy jeans new, because I don't want to wear anything that has been near someone else's nether regions.

My bestie once stared at my stuffed suitcase as I unpacked splendid frocks and finery on a cruise.

Quoth she: so, what of that did you NOT buy at a car boot or charity shop?

Me knickers and shoes, I replied! Even that wasn't quite true I had one brand new pair of shoes which were car booty.

I saw a ridiculously cool multicolored velvet-ish coat in a charity store yesterday. Thankfully it was a size Small and someone else already had it. I did try on what had to be an antique men's smoking jacket/coat, but it was too small. Darnitt. It was one of the long ones.

Almost everything I have is used or was purchased for a great bargain. My dad days I'm tighter than two coats of paint.
    I will not pay retail!!!

It's my upbringing. A family of hagglers and bargain hunters.

My mama used to send me to Italian street markets with a small handful of cigarettes as part currency. She would regale people with the story of the eight year old me being heard loudly saying, "no, no, a hundred lire and TWO English cigarettes. " I think I used to get the deal because the stall holders were laughing so hard.

I had to learn on my own. I generally don't haggle much if I'm somewhere early and the price is already good. If they're selling 14k for stainless prices, I just pay up and run!
