Thank you! We found him in OR as well, but didn’t get the web hit on Chicago or Revere. I’ll see if I can get Google to share that with me too.

Questioning the expertise and being hostile isn't the right way to go Sugar. This isn't (IMHO lol) a site of academics and historians waiting with baited breath to answer questions in a straightforward and forthright manor without deviation, that being said, it is a site full of collectors and dealers who have centuries of knowledge spanning the vast subject of antiques and as you are asking for their help a little patience and humility might see you get somewhere.
As for the key, seeing as you can't find the company listed I suspect it was just one of the 1000's of lock manufactures that weren't important enough to be registered and logged onto the internet for Posterity (this happens)
So unless you can find someone who knows exactly (doubtful) an opinion will be the best you can do, and in my opinion the key isn't that old going by the rounded end and the fake double bow, it probably fits a rim door lock from the 1940's but could be as old as 1900 or as late 1960's.

The 1950 Census gave his employment as a "Metal Pourer" for Cooper Manufacturing Co. His 1942 World War II Draft Registration Card gave his employer as Revere Copper and Brass Corp.

It could also be the name of the hardware store that sold keys. Lots of stores during that era put their name on items. We have bins of those keys because antique dealers bring in boxes for Jon to make keys - he impressions them. There are also a lot of antique houses on Cape Cod that still use bit keys (skeleton keys)

Why are we calling it a 'skeleton key'? A skeleton key is supposed to be some sort of key that opens many locks. This looks like a standard 3 lever mortice lock key of it's age without any magical powers.

You only need to look at the last sentence in my reply to the OP.

Which I believe is what set off komo's reply. Though I'm not positive about that.

Different meanings in British English to American English, a bit like the world wide name Football compared to American name Football which is nothing of the sort.

Fair enough. What's the American definition of skeleton key?

American football? Isn't that sitting round and eating burgers and popcorn for three hours? :woot:

Only when the game has finished, there has to be some decorum, we are English after all :)
