Just guessing since this isn't my field, but I'd guess it doesn't have much age due to lack of chips or scratches on bottom, and simpleton look of the heads and faces (all look like Wimpy without the mustache and hat.) It might have been carved by CNC machinery, I've heard that's catching on fast in China to cut costs. Program it once, turn the machine on, and just keep feeding in chunks of the mineral, whatever it is.

Well, since it's now the middle of the night in China and there are only two watchers (guessing they are both from here! LOL), I'm thinking you could be right, springfld.arsenal. However, discounting the carving, wouldn't the stone itself have some value to it?

Thanks again, everybody, for all your help!

We'll find out soon enough. On the value of the stone itself, I think you mean if it is an inherently valuable mineral like real jade. I think already-carved, common souvenir-making minerals like onyx, alabaster, etc. don't have significant commercial value on their own, but keep in mind that this isn't my field.

If nephrite, you won't see many scratches anyway. And chips depends on how they took care of the piece.
I don't think jade in general is so valuable. Maybe certain kinds and colors, quality etc. There so many modern pieces coming from China and selling for dirty cheap.
So, it has to be older piece to sell well. It tooks months and even years to work jade back in the days vs fast "carving" with modern tools in present times.

Okay. Well, we'll see on this one which way it goes.

    Have a great week all!
