I do not know them & I am not on Facebook. Just happened to land there in trying to learn more about your inkstand.

In the big cameo thread I made an appeal for a Facebook member to make initial contact with the Bevois Mount history group:

CAMEOS: Show & Tell or Ask & Answer

    https://www.facebook.com/bevoismounthistory/

I think it would be very interesting for them to have this additional info on Albert Durer Lucas. Perhaps they even recognize the lady on the cameo. If they add something about it to their page on A. D. Lucas it will be a way of finally getting recognition for this very accomplished cameist.

So far I have had no success in drafting an emissary. Could I coax you? The job is just to direct them to the post about the cameo. If you agree to undertake this mission, you will be doing a generous service to me & the history of glyptics.

I sent them a facebook message with your photos. If they respond I will let you know. You can't post on their page unless it's a response to something they posted. It keeps spammers away.

Back to your inkstand. I think it must have looked very lovely on a lady's writing desk, and now makes a beautiful, romantic gift.

Do all 3 of the larger cameos show couples? Are the smaller ones all individuals (+ a dog)? My personal preference is for cameos with classical or neoclassical subjects. I suspect some cameos of courting couples have their origin in Romantic literature, a field where I know next to nothing, so I am unable to identify them, which irks me. :sour:

I like the porcelain as much as or more than the cameos. Hope your fellow Facebooker can identify the maker.

This is how the ad describes it.

Circa Late 19th Century. The pierced scrolling foliate stand inset with six carved shell cameos (1 1/4") depicting classical and bucolic figures, surrounding a central larger cameo (2 1/4") carved with a romantic shepherd and shepherdess, centering twin gilt-metal mounted porcelain inkwells set with cameo lids (1 3/4") of courtly couples. 4 1/4" H x 12" L x 7 1/2" W.

I will find out soon enough (I hope).

I stopped viewing that group, there was so much misinformation ( except for @PepperAnna ).:)
I actually thought I'd dropped out of it but I see I am still listed as "Joined".

That's amazing. There are quite a few similar ones for sale. But, that one was the nicest. I wish I could find just one that is made like mine.
