Featured Thrift find old mandolin; Google image search says Antique Martin Mandolin - is it?

When I wanted to have a look inside a hofner I bought, I used a small webcam to have a good look about. I dropped a small light through one hole and the cam through the other.

 

My brain almost without fail goes the old school route automatically. That’s a good idea! I still reach for a pen and paper for phone numbers rather than entering it into the phone that’s inevitably in my hands already.

 

I probably would have used a small mirror if I had one. I didn't though so I had to use what was available. Scrap heap challenge

 

Right - like a dental mirror, or a similar thing used by music stores and luthiers, like a smallish rectangular mirror on a handle.

 

I bought a usb endo camera with a built-in light a few years ago on Amazon (to look for wiring in walls) and wondered if it would work well for this. I'd used it on my laptop but tried it on my Android phone this time.

My only mandolin is old but nothing inside so I looked at the newer Martin guitar we have and it worked fine.

I think my cable is 16' long so overkill for this application. Readable though.
