    Japanese candle holder?

This is a heavy stone candle holder with gold stone inlay. I can only find vases similar to this. Is it from Japan? What era? Any idead what it could be worth? Any info would be so much appreciated.

Pattern name - glass vase, probably Depression

I figured @gregsglass would probably know what this is. I found it going begging at the local Ill Will for half of its original $3 price tag. I'll probably be finding it a home locally.

Odd item here. Can anyone tell me what this is?

It's wood. A branch of some strange tree? There's a stone wedged inside one end.
    I have no idea.
